What is Film Capsule?
A time (film!) capsule into cinema through the ages – in an age where we live increasingly in the immediate, Film Capsule is an invitation to look back on timeless classics and forgotten gems, and indulge in a little nostalgia for films we still treasure.
The premise is simple – one year, one edition. And – because it’s more fun – in no particular order!
Film discussion is for everyone – that’s why there are no limits on who can write for Film Capsule, where feeling, experience and love for a film is more important than quoting literary criticism (although we welcome that too!). Everyone has a story to tell, and something to say about why a film is important, for them and for everyone else – before anything, film should be about creating community.
In this first issue, twenty collaborators – writers, artists, film lovers – reflect on films from the year 2003, from Finding Nemo to Goodbye, Dragon Inn – perhaps this film helped them get through a rough patch, or cemented itself as a childhood favourite. Read about your favourites, or discover something new – and let’s celebrate film together, one year at a time!
